Hey, everyone!! It's time to celebrate the Lent season together. YOu are invited to share your Lent journey 2010 in this place. There is joy, strength, encouragement, and community when we share this time with one another.

My journey this year is a little different for me. Being a huge sports fan, one of the highlights of my day is driving to work and listening to sports radio. This Lent season, I'm going to take that time to pray and to worship as I drive. I'm excited to learn what god has in store for me these days ahead.

We can summarize that Jesus basically came for 2 main purposes:

1) Provide, through His death and resurrection, a means of restoring a right relationship between man and God (John 3; I John 4; John 3)

(Romans 6:20-23)

²⁰When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. ²¹What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! ²²But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. ²³For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in^[b] Christ Jesus our Lord.

2) To announce and usher in the Kingdom of Heaven and that the purpose of that forgiveness, restoration and renewal in us is to allow us to reclaim our place in the Kingdom of God starting right now and lasting forever! (Mark 1:14-17; Matt 4:17; Matt 5; 13-14; John 14-16)

Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

Friends, here in the middle in our everyday lives, Jesus beckons us to live under the daily influence of the Holy Spirit, who reveals God’s Kingdom and our part in that Kingdom!

July 12...Take risks!!

If there's one thing we are hesitant to do here in our culture, it's to take risks....spiritually. Oh, we take risks with money, finances, what we do for a living, leisure activities...but, what about how we live and trust God? We're wimps for the most part!!! Afraid of what others will say...or worse...just afraid to put God in a position where He has to do what He's promised. Of course, we so skew what He's promised that we end up putting on Him what doesn't belong on Him, and not trusting Him in areas that He's promised to take care of.

What do you think about this? How do you live in regards to stepping out and trusting God?

July 5...Freedom!

As we journeyed together exploring what it means to live in true freedom, I more and more have been thinking about the freedom to be myself in a world that constantly tries to mold me into someone other than who God has dreamed for me to be!

I know that I need to stand in Christ firm and resolved...but I also know that sometimes that can leave me in the frame of mind to isolate myself and my family from everyone not "like me" and to become very judgmental and elitest. Jesus doesn't set that example for us. He walked, ate, talked, and did life with those who were in deep need in so many areas of life.

I think the question is: Will we allow the world to mold us or can we help mold the world by living out Christ among those who truly need Him but don't know where to find Him? It's not easy, but Jesus calls us to be witnesses to the world He's placed us in...not just to "witness" and then run home as fast as we can, glad to have gotten that over with.

I wonder sometimes...if true love casts out all fear, what are we so afraid about? Living Christ in the world by being in loving, non-judgmental relationship with not-yet-believers so they might catch glimpses of God in our life? hmmmm....:)

What an amazing day today at BFCC was!!! Recognizing all of the 2 yr old and under kids with their parents was so fun. And it underscored the responsibility we all have to live out Christ daily!

Tell me what you thought of Pastor Darrel's statements on Discipleship and Evangelism....there was a lot there to chew on and share...:)

As we continue to look at what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and to find our place in the body of believers, I'm wondering what life for you looks like on a daily basis in living out Christ's command to love God and love others as ourselves?

Also, when you think of God, the Father, Jesus, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, how do you find yourself relating to the different personages of God in the three persons?

We're starting a new series on what it means to live daily within the dreams that God has for each of us! "Please Show Me Your ID" has the potential to utterly change the way we see and do this daily journey together that we call 'life'.

There were several things that jumped out at me this week, but one of the things that always does is the phrase, "pick up your cross daily". what does this mean to you? Did you understand what Pastor Darrel was saying? How does, "picking up your cross daily" help you to relate to Jesus?

April 5...Palm Sunday..Last week of Lent!

What an incredible week it's been! Spending the past week-end with 150 men up in the mountains journeying together to better understand how we are loved and created to be parts of this body of believers we find ourselves in...well, it was just so cool how God was present and working in us!

I heard such amazing things about Sunday morning at BFCC! Pastor Darrel talking about the hope of Christ for us and being able to celebrate that Jesus, The Chosen One of God, has come and rendered sin powerless for all who accept Him!

What were your thoughts and reactions to Sunday? How is your Lent journey going? Questions or comments on your daily walking in the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth?

Hey, friends. The Lent season is upon us, and we have a unique and incredible opportunity to share our journey and what God is teaching us together in this blog. Let's take advantage of it and openly share our thoughts, victories, misgivings, failures, challenges and celebrations!

Lent officially begins this Ash Wednesday, Feb. 25. Between not and then, I'm going to be praying and searching my heart to see what my journey's direction will look like.

Remember, Lent gives us direction in how we prepare to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, our Lord. Pray...put something aside that means something to us in order to focus more fully on Him...give to others in need, as Christ sacrificed Himself for us.

Wii to We wrap-up.....

The truth is, we're called to live out lives in the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth in community with each other and with God. It sounds good, and on the surface seems easy enough....after all, don't we all like to be around people we like sometimes? :) But, it's not easy, is it.... to live as servants to each other....to live with integrity and honesty....to appreciate each other and lift one another up.....to see others the way God sees them.....sometimes it's very, very tough!

But, I think that it IS so important that we learn to fight through discomfort and even painful circumstances in order to do life with one another.

I'm wondering: What do you think we need to do to move beyond just a surface cordiality and really learn to invest in one another?

Is anyone out there? :)

The Individual in Community...

What a great day Sunday morning was! It was good to worship with everyone again after being out of town in Seattle. This past Sunday, Pastor Darrel talked about the role in the Kingdom of God of the individual and how he/she fits into the body of believers. I've had a few conversations already about where the line is between being a servant to all and giving all of yourself for the good of others, and on the other side, where does God allow for us as individuals to be all we can be in who He created for us to be....at what point it is selfish to "better" oneself? Where is the balance in taking care of ourselves and in taking care of others?

Hmmm....what do you think? :)

I don't know about you, but the concept that Jesus puts forth that He wants us to be one as He and the Father are one is amazing! What does that even mean to you?

Some interesting paths of thought present themselves, don't they?

* How do we get our heads and hearts around God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit being one? What images come to our minds and how does that mold how we relate to God?
* How do I possibly comprehend how I can relate to you and you to me the way God relates to Jesus? How can I ever hope to 'live up' to that?
* Is it possible for me to live life actually learning to see others the way that God sees them? I want to! I need to....I can't do it on my own resources. But agains, I don't have to....do I? :)

Transformation....Jan 18

What a great morning Sunday was with worship and with Doug McCary sharing with us. The overall theme of the morning was the ability to be transformed into the person God has dreamed for us to be through Jesus and our daily journey with Him!

For me, that takes on a new, fresh form each week! I love how God takes me through such interesting places and seasons of life in order for me to grow in Him. It's not always an easy path...in fact, sometimes it totally sucks!!!! But, His grace is always sufficient in every way.

What does your current journey with Christ in your real life look like? What does your spiritual "learning curve" look like? Let's talk with each other....

Wii to We...The Image of God

wow...great day on Sunday worshiping and learning through His Spirit.

Pastor Darrel brought up some interesting thinking points on the relational aspects of God within the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and how it provides a model and a explanation of how we, as being created in god's image, are made to thrive within community with Him and with each other.

What did you bring out of Sunday? How do you see your relationship with god and with others as being essential parts of living out the Kingdom of Heaven on earth? Do we really need each other in order to be what God has created us to be?

hey, everyone! Looking forward to diving back into the BFCC Journey together with you!

Something caught my ear this Sunday as Pastor Darrel was teaching. It was about virtual or online relationships being somehow non-authentic. I'm not sure I buy that totally. I know what he was trying to say...but, I know that in many cases that I can personally attest to, people I know and myself, virtual 'connection' and communication can be very authentic and very much a part of the community of believers' relationship. What do you think about this?

What God is telling me to do...

As a refresher, here are the 3 things God is telling us to do from His Word, and some of the scriptures that go along with them:

1. Pursue my relationship with God with everything in me!
(Mark 8:34-35; 10:13-16; 10:21; 10:29-31; John 1:35-51; 7:37-39; 8:12; 10:1-18; 12:23-28; 14; 15; 16)

2. Don't just say you love...live out in action the love that you profess comes from God!
(Mark 3:33-35; 4:20-25; 6:6-13; 6:30-44; 9:35-37; 10:42-45; Matt. 5-7; 22:34-40; 25:31-46)

3. Be salt and light. Quit living in fear, trust the Holy Spirit's guidance, and pursue lasting, loving relationships with those inside and outside the "Christian bubble"
(Matt. 4:18-20; 5-7; 12:11-12; 22:37-40; 25:31-46; Luke 5:27-32; 6:27-38; 10:30-37; Acts 1:4-8

So....what are your thoughts? I'm interested in some of your reflections on what God is telling you to do in the coming year. Areas of trust and faith....places that will be challenges.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
Here at the end of 2008, I thought it would be insightful for us to look inside our hearts and minds and put out a hope list for what we'd like to have God do in our lives this coming year. This coming Sunday, Dec. 28th, we'll be talking about just that.

What is the state of your heart, and what do you hope for in the year ahead walking and living in the Kingdom of Heaven on earth?

This 3rd Sunday of Advent 2008 was represented at BFCC by "Joy". Of course, you're all welcome to share thoughts on what God was teaching you...revealing....taking you through...but, I wonder if anyone is like me and is coming into this week contemplating how I experience the joy of the reality of Christ in my life, and how my everyday can be molded by allowing God's joy to bust into what my Monday is going to be about, regardless of the circumstances...hmmmm. Questions: Do I choose joy? Is joy always an option in my days? How does the reality of experiencing God's joy manifest in my life?

I believe that the joy of God in our life is one of those elements that fits into the catagory of "secrets hiding in plain sight".

The Perfect Present...Dec 7

II Corinthians 9:15 This weekend, we had laid before us this truth that Jesus, God with us, was the most incredible present that we could ever ask for. God showed us His heart and His passion when, for us, He gave up a huge part of Himself in order to re-establish relationship with us, through Christ.

Even further, Jesus....the Gift...gave up Himself for each of us to have that relationship with God.

So...as a child of God--a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven--how do I daily continue the legacy of giving up of myself for others? How far should that take me? How much to I give? Do I bend? How many of my "rights" am I willing to abandon in order to love others and make their paths richer and more level?

A few starter thoughts, anyway.....:)

Well, as we journey together through this Advent season, so many things pop into my mind about Christmas and how it affects our lives because of Jesus. Pastor Darrel gave some insight into some of the things Joseph had to work through in order to fulfill his role as Jesus' earthly dad. What are some of your insights and reactions to the decisions and faith steps he had to make? How did Mary perhaps help Joseph through an incredibly hard time? How do we react when our faith is pushed to the limit and it seems we're asked to believe in the face of almost impossible circumstances?

This morning, Pastor Darrel talked about the fruitfulness of a believer who exhibited and lived out daily the elements of Christ-like living that allows the Holy Spirit to nurture in us love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. What were some of your thoughts, reactions, impressions of what was taught? How do we find ways in which to have these elements of Kingdom living more evident in our lives? Let's talk....

Faithfulness...

I appreciated Pastor Darrel's direction of pointing out that when we are faithful to the leading of the Holy Spirit, we avoid the pitfalls of the enemy. On a different side of it, I'm so pumped about the fact that when we are faithful, the avenues of daily being transformed into someone who has insight into His perspectives of the Kingdom are being opened up for us. As we walk in faithfulness, we start to see with His eyes, feel what He feels, love the way that He dreams for us to love. When we're living in that paradigm, we have little time to pursue the lusts of this world. Not that they aren't still available to us...we just are having too much abundant life to want to dwell on them. what do you all think?
